BUDGET STRATEGY FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018-19

Expenditure for the government in FY18-19 has been set at 5.246 trillion Rupees.

The target GDP growth rate for the upcoming fiscal year has been set at 6.2% against FY17-18's target of 6pc.

The government intends to keep inflation to below 6percent.

The intended tax to GDP ratio is 13.8%, while net public debt is targeted to be contained at 63.2 percent of the GDP.

The budget deficit is also targeted to be contained at 4.9 %of the GDP.

A 15 billion dollars target for forex reserves has been set in FY18-19.

As part of the budget strategy, social protection programmes will be continued in the upcoming fiscal year.

Defence Budget

Estimate of current defence budget: 100 billion Rupees

The increase in the defence budget for 18-19 is the highest since the PML-N took over in 2013

Defence budget has been increased up to 19.5% from last fiscal Year

Expenditure Budget

Estimate of the current expenditure: 4,780.4 billion Rupees

The share of current expenditure in the budget: 80.6 Percent

Estimate of the development expenditure:  1,152.1billion dollars

The share of development expenditure in the budget: 194 percent

Revenue

The total tax revenue target is 4, 888.6 billion Rupees of which the FBR taxes comprise Rs4,435 billion Rupees.

Indirect taxes  are expected to increase up to 280 billion Rupees

The non-tax revenue target has been set at 1,246 billion Rupees

The provincial share in tax revenue will be increased from 2,316 billion to 2, 590 billion Rupees
